  Pickled Pelts
   

Pickled Lamb Pelts

XL run grade:
Minimum average 93 SF per dozen with no single pelt under
7.5 SF. No major faults allowed in the main panel. Not more
than 3 minor faults allowed in the main panel. 75 to 80 dozen
per pallet.

Run grade:
Minimum 5 SF per pelt. No major faults allowed in the main
panel. Not more than 3 minor faults allowed in the main
panel. 90 to 100 dozen per pallet.

Pinhole grade:
Minimum 5 SF per pelt. Apart from the defect pinhole the
definition is identical to XL run or Run grades. 90 to 100
dozen per pallet.

XL third grade:
Minimum average 93 SF per dozen with no single pelt under
7.5 SF. Includes defective pelts from XL run and Pinhole that
meet the size criteria. 75 to 80 dozen per pallet.

Third grade:
Minimum 3 SF of useable area per pelt and not less than two
thirds of an intact lamb pelt. Includes defective pelts from
Run grade and Pinhole grade as well as pelts that are of Run
grade quality but less than 5 SF in area. Excludes Pieces and
pelts exhibiting facial eczema. 90 to 100 dozen per pallet.

Ribby run grade:
Minimum 5 SF per pelt. Includes pelts as per XL run grade,
Run grade and Pinhole that exhibit medium to heavy rib, but
not excessive heavy or lap rib, from neck to butt. 90 to 100
dozen per pallet.

Ribby third grade:

Minimum 5 SF per pelt. Includes defective pelts from Ribby
run grade. Also includes pelts as per XL third grade and
Third grade that exhibit medium to heavy rib, but not
excessive heavy or lap rib, from neck to butt. 90 to 100
dozen per pallet.

Merino grade:
Minimum 3 SF per pelt. Includes pelts with excessively heavy
or lap rib. Also includes defective pelts from Ribby third
grade. 90 to 100 dozen per pallet.

Fourth grade:
Minimum 2 SF per pelt. Includes defective pelts from XL
third, or Third grades. 90 to 100 dozen per pallet.

Reject grade:
Less than 2 SF per pelt. Includes defective pelts from Fourth
grade or Merino grade. 100 dozen per pallet.


Pickled Sheep Pelts


Run heavy grade:
Minimum 100 SF per dozen with no single pelt under 7.5 SF.
No major faults allowed in the main panel. Not more than 5
minor faults allowed in the main panel. 45 dozen per pallet.

Run light grade:
Minimum 7.5 SF per pelt. No major faults allowed in the
main panel. Not more than 5 minor faults allowed in the
main panel. 70 to 75 dozen per pallet.

Third heavy grade:
Minimum 4 SF of continuous useable area per pelt and not
less than two thirds of an intact sheep pelt. Includes defective
pelts from Run heavy grade and pelts that are of Run heavy
grade quality but less than 7.5 SF per pelt. 45 dozen per
pallet.

Third light grade:

Minimum 4 SF of continuous useable area per pelt and
not less than two thirds of an intact sheep pelt. Includes
defective pelts from Run light grade and pelts that are of
Run light grade quality but less than 7.5 SF per pelt. 70 to 75
dozen per pallet.

Ribby grade:
Minimum 6 SF per pelt. As per Run heavy grade and / or Run
light grade except this grade includes pelts with medium to
heavy rib, but not excessively heavy (or lap) rib, from neck
to butt. 45 to 50 dozen per pallet.

Merino grade:
Minimum 5 SF per pelt. Includes pelts with excessively heavy
(or lap) rib from neck to butt. All quality selections included
as well as defective pelts from Ribby grade. 45 to 50 dozen
per pallet.

Fourth grade:
Minimum 2 SF of continuous useable material. Includes
defective pelts from Third heavy grade and Third light grade.
50 to 60 dozen per pallet.

Reject grade:
All sizes included. Includes defective pelts from Fourth grade

Skins with holes, cuts or heavy flay in the main panel will be downgraded to Third selection. Grossly misshapen skins will be downgraded to Fourth selection.
